Description: The northern leopard frog range was adapted from NatureServe 2002 and CARCNET 2007. In October 2011,it was updated by Rob Gau to reflect data from NWT ENR Infobase 2011, and records from Alberta from the 2008, COSEWIC interim-status report & the 2000/2001 Northern Leopard Frog provincial inventory. Further data was collected and adapted from the draft NWT Species at Risk Committee species status report in April 2012 by Rob Gau and Bonnie Fournier. This included the addition and refinement of 'historical' range in NWT and Alberta (based on records In 2025, the range was reviewed for the Species at Risk Committee’s Status Report and Assessment for Canadian Toad, Western Toad and Northern Leopard Frog in the NWT (2025) using information from WMIS 2024 (including data from Schock (2010), RESCAN (2008), GBIF (2025), and other incidental observations compiled by GNWT-ECC); and data from outside the NWT (Saskatchewan Conservation Data Centre (unpubl. data 2025) and Alberta Fish and Wildlife Information System (FWMIS unpubl. data 2024)). As a result, the range was modified by GNWT ECC staff (Nick Wilson, Joanna Wilson & Robin Abernethy) by removing the distinction between historical and recent ranges, but the extent did not change.
