Description: Mineral Lease means a lease of a recorded claim acquired in the manner prescribed by the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations.A mineral lease is a lease of a recorded claim situated on Territorial/Commissioner’s Land that has been granted to the holder of the claim pursuant to Section 60 of the Mining Regulations. A mineral lease can be applied for after the claim holder has done at least $25.00 per hectare of work in the claim area. A mineral lease is required for disposal or sale of minerals or ore with a gross value of more than $100 000 in one year. A survey of the claim must be recorded with the Mining Recorder’s Office before a lease can be granted under the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations. Surveys are carried out by Certified Land Surveyors under the general instructions of the Surveyor General. Attribute Definitions:Lease Number: The Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated by the Mineral Information Tenure System (MITS) database and preceded by “NT-”. Owner(s): The name(s) of the owner(s) and the percentage of the ownership in ().Status: The current status of the Lease (Pending, Active, Cancelled etc.)Annual Rent: The rent per annum is $2.50 per hectare for the first 21 years and $5.00 per hectare for the subsequent 21 year renewals of the lease.Issue Date: The issue date is the date is the same as Commencement Date.Commencement Date: The date when the lease takes effect which is the day after the anniversary date of the claim. Signed Date: The date when a lease is signed on behalf of the Minister. Rent Due Date: The date when the rent is next due. Interest will be calculated if the rent is paid after this date.Term Expiry Date: The date when the term of the lease expires. The term is 21 years.Cancellation Date: The date when the lease was cancelled. Term: The count of which term the lease is currently on i.e. 1st21 year term is 1; 2nd21 year term is 2.Renewal Count: The count of how many times the lease has been/was renewed.Lease Area Hectares: The surveyed area of the claim.Mapsheets: The physical location of the lease in the National Topographic System (NTS).District: NWTLand Claim Area: The physical location of the lease as per the Land Claim Agreements and IMA’s (Interim Measures Agreements) Areas for consultation purposes.Crown Hectares: Portion of a lease that is situated on Commissioners/Territorial Lands.Crown Rent: Portion of the rent associated with the area of lease that is situated on Commissioners/Territorial Lands.Land Claim Hectares: Portion of a lease that is situated on Titled Lands pursuant to a Final Land Claim Agreement.Land Claim Rent: Portion of the rent associated with the area of lease that is situated on Titled Lands pursuant to a Final Land Claim Agreement.Date of last update: this data is updated daily.

Description: As part of the 1998 Wildlife Act, all Wildlife Management boundaries were digitally produced at a scale of 1:250,000. Previous maps of the Wildlife Management boundaries were manually drafted on maps at a scale of 1:4,000,000. The data has the potential to be used for a variety of other wildlife management purposes. These boundaries have been legally described as part of the Wildlife Act Regulations. These boundaries have been used as the basis of the maps used for the annual Hunting Regulations Maps. Boundaries have been updated as required due to changes in the legislation.All digital spatial boundaries and the respective metes and bounds descriptions in the all Regulations have been updated to be in compliance with the 2014 update to the Wildlife Act. No meaningful changes to boundaries were done as part of this process. Changes were made to conform with metes and bounds descriptions in paramount legislation from Canada and the settled land claim areas in the NWTThe key changes have been as follows:All boundaries and metes and bounds descriptions are now compliant with what is included in the applicable land claim agreements and other relevant documents.All boundaries now reflect more current and accurate digital boundary features that are now available.Management Units have been changed to Management Zones.The following species have all been grouped by Management Zone (excluding Zone I) within a set of regulations called “Wildlife Management Zones and Areas Regulations”: Wildlife Management Zones, Polar Bear, Outfitter Areas, Wood Bison, Barren Ground Caribou, Muskox, Wolf and Wolverine.The following separate Regulations have also been updated: Registered Group Trapping in Trapping Regulations, Bison Control Areas in Nuisance Bison Control Regulations,Wildlife Preserves,and the Mackenzie Bison Sanctuary in Wildlife Sanctuaries.The following Inuvialuit Settlement Region Hunter and Trapper Committees Regulations have been updated: Aklavik, Inuvik, Olokhatomuit, Paulatuk, Sachs Harbour, and Tuktoyaktuk contain as applicable the following species: Polar Bear, Barren Ground Caribou, Grizzly Bear, Lynx, Muskox, Wolf, Dolphin and Union Caribou, and Peary Caribou.The following data and metes and bounds descriptions were updated, but the Regulations were not: Border Licence Areas (Wildlife Licences and Permits), Critical Wildlife Areas – therefore the boundaries have not been changed.The digital boundary and metes and bounds description of the Thelon Game Sanctuary will be updated in conjunction with the Land Withdrawal Order (Dubawnt Lake), NWT Lands Act as they cover the same area.Wildlife Regions were deleted as they are a residual feature from pre-Nunavut.Since the Act has been passed, there have been a few updates to descriptions and boundaries that are reflected on a case by case basis.The following attributes may be present in each attribute file. Each attributes is prefaced with 'xx' which is a two character abbreviation of the layer name:• xxAREA is the minimum attribute which is the management area identifier• xNAME is the name of an area.Data was originally stored in PBEAR97 Arc/Info coverage. The data has been updated in 2012 as PBEAR12.shp.
