Description: Mineral Claim means a plot of land located or acquired in the manner prescribed by the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations.A Mineral claim is an area of Territorial/Commissioner’s Land that is staked and recorded by an individual or Company in accordance with the Mining Regulations. This grants the individual or Company the exclusive rights to the minerals within the area covered by the recorded claim as provided for under the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations. If the holder of a mineral claim wishes to remove processed minerals valued at more than $100,000 from a claim, or to hold it for more than ten years, the holder must apply for a lease of the claim.Attribute Definitions:Claim Number: A unique identification number from the Claim tag that was purchased from the Mining Recorder’s Office and placed on the four corners of the mineral claim at the time of staking.Claim Name: The name of the claim that the client gives for personal identification purpose.Owner(s): The name(s) of the owner(s) and the percentage of the ownership in ().Status: The current status of the claim (Pending, Active, Cancelled etc).Mapsheets: The physical location of the claim in the National Topographic System (NTS)District: NWTLand Claim Area: The physical location of the claim as per the Land Claim Agreements and IMA’s (Interim Measures Agreements) areas for consultation purposes.Hectares: The actual total area of the claim. This can change after the legal survey is submitted to the Mining Recorder’s Office.Staked Hectares: The total area of the claim as measured by the client and submitted in the Application to Record form.Issue Date: The issue date represents when the completed Application to Record form and the filing fees were received in the Mining Recorder’s Office.Stake Start Date: The date when the staking started in the field and as marked on the NE 1 corner identification tag for the claim.Stake End Date: The date when the staking was completed as required by the Mining Regulationsand as marked on the NE 1 corner identification tag for the claim.Anniversary Date: The date when the claim is due to expire.Cancellation Date: The date when the claim is cancelled. Ground Opening date: The date when this parcel of land is open for staking a new mineral claim.
