Tłichǫ Land Use Plan approved April 25, 2013 and comes into effect June 1, 2013.Norm Mair (GIS Specialist/NWTCG) - September 11, 2013 - Received this data from Sjoerd van der Wielen/GIS Technician/ Tłichǫ Government. http://www.tlicho.ca/news/press-release-t%C5%82%C4%AFch%C7%AB-land-use-plan-effect-june-1-2013On Thursday, April 25, 2013, the Tłichǫ Government approved the Tłichǫ Lands Protection Amendment Law 2013 and the Tłichǫ Use Plan Law, which brings into effect the Tłichǫ Wene’ke or Tłichǫ Use Plan. “The Tłichǫ Use Plan is a significant accomplishment for the Tłichǫ Government as it has been a work in progress for seven years” said Grand Chief Eddie Erasmus. “This Tłichǫ Use Plan represents the Tłichǫ vision for use of our lands that protects the land while recognizing that opportunities may be out there for land use proposals.”Plan development was guided by the Tłıichǫ elders who considered their knowledge of the land of the past and present to determine how Tłichǫ lands would look in the future. The Tłichǫ Use Plan will come into effect on June 1, 2013. At that time the moratorium on Tłichǫ Lands will be lifted and Tłichǫ will start considering proposals and applications for uses on Tłichǫ Lands.GIS note - In order to map conservation zones /areas please use these zones:Tłichǫ land protection zones (Habitat Management Zone= CA, Cultural Heritage Zone= CA, Land Use Exclusion Area = protected area) |
