Description: Mineral Lease means a lease of a recorded claim acquired in the manner prescribed by the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations.A mineral lease is a lease of a recorded claim situated on Territorial/Commissioner’s Land that has been granted to the holder of the claim pursuant to Section 60 of the Mining Regulations. A mineral lease can be applied for after the claim holder has done at least $25.00 per hectare of work in the claim area. A mineral lease is required for disposal or sale of minerals or ore with a gross value of more than $100 000 in one year. A survey of the claim must be recorded with the Mining Recorder’s Office before a lease can be granted under the Northwest Territories Mining Regulations. Surveys are carried out by Certified Land Surveyors under the general instructions of the Surveyor General. Attribute Definitions:Lease Number: The Sequential unique whole numbers that are automatically generated by the Mineral Information Tenure System (MITS) database and preceded by “NT-”. Owner(s): The name(s) of the owner(s) and the percentage of the ownership in ().Status: The current status of the Lease (Pending, Active, Cancelled etc.)Annual Rent: The rent per annum is $2.50 per hectare for the first 21 years and $5.00 per hectare for the subsequent 21 year renewals of the lease.Issue Date: The issue date is the date is the same as Commencement Date.Commencement Date: The date when the lease takes effect which is the day after the anniversary date of the claim. Signed Date: The date when a lease is signed on behalf of the Minister. Rent Due Date: The date when the rent is next due. Interest will be calculated if the rent is paid after this date.Term Expiry Date: The date when the term of the lease expires. The term is 21 years.Cancellation Date: The date when the lease was cancelled. Term: The count of which term the lease is currently on i.e. 1st21 year term is 1; 2nd21 year term is 2.Renewal Count: The count of how many times the lease has been/was renewed.Lease Area Hectares: The surveyed area of the claim.Mapsheets: The physical location of the lease in the National Topographic System (NTS).District: NWTLand Claim Area: The physical location of the lease as per the Land Claim Agreements and IMA’s (Interim Measures Agreements) Areas for consultation purposes.Crown Hectares: Portion of a lease that is situated on Commissioners/Territorial Lands.Crown Rent: Portion of the rent associated with the area of lease that is situated on Commissioners/Territorial Lands.Land Claim Hectares: Portion of a lease that is situated on Titled Lands pursuant to a Final Land Claim Agreement.Land Claim Rent: Portion of the rent associated with the area of lease that is situated on Titled Lands pursuant to a Final Land Claim Agreement.Date of last update: this data is updated daily.
